Membership
to this Organization which is entirely voluntary is open to
all Cameroonians by nationality, association, or affiliation
and/or friends of Cameroon who reside in and around the greater
Lowell area. Such persons must be peaceful and law abiding.
A membership
application form needs to be completed and given
to the Social Secretary. A registration fee is due at the
time of admission. To maintain good standing, a member shall
be expected to pay all dues in a timely fashion, maintain
a good meeting attendance record (no tardiness/absenteeism),
and to actively participate in all GCM mandated activities.
There shall be three (3) categories of Membership in Camola:
(i) A “Full Member” is an active member of the
organization who is expected to abide by all the Provisions
of Camola Rules, Policies and By-laws. This member shall be
entitled to all the Benefits of full membership per Article
X;
(ii) An “Associate Member” is the school (through
College) Age child of a “full member” and only
enjoys limited benefits associated to their parents.
(iii) An “interim member” is only entitled to
the specific benefit for which they were invited and contracted
to join Camola for, as long as all associates fees and charges
are paid on time i.e. they do not default.
Every CAMOLA member is obliged to make a monthly contribution
of ten dollars. Five dollars is put in the support fund and
the other five dollars goes towards refreshment or entertainment.
Dues and /or contribution is subject to change by a vote in
the general meeting. Members may be asked to contribute for
special occasions like Christmas parties, cookouts, or contributions
to sponsor and promote events of interest as well as the advancement
of Camola.
Membership
shall be terminated if a member has not attended or made contributions
to the meeting for up to six consecutive meetings and without
any explanation. Membership may be terminated for a member
who is also an elected executive, for the following reasons;
Absent from three consecutive meetings without notification.
Failure
to meet financial obligations for three consecutive meetings.
Exceptions
(1)The member is seriously ill and is hospitalized.
(2)The member is called away on military service, or any other
family commitment unexpectedly.
