RESOLUTION
Supporting and establishing a sister city
relationship with Bamenda, Cameroon.
WHEREAS, the City of Lowell is cognizant of
the plight of the peoples of developing nations and, in particular,
the peoples of Bamenda, Cameroon; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lowell is desirous of rendering
assistance and support to the people of Bamenda, Cameroon in
their efforts to achieve democracy, safeguard human rights and
generate economic prosperity which will benefit both Africans
and Americans alike; and
WHEREFORE, the City of Lowell wishes to establish and officially
recognize a historical, cultural, and humanitarian link with
Bamenda, Cameroon in the form of a sister city relationship.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LOWELL as follows:
That we, the members of the City Council be
on record as supporting and establishing a sister city relationship
with Bamenda, Cameroon and further committed to rendenng support
and assistance to the peoples of Bamenda, Cameroon.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
That the City Council be on record as supporting
the City's membership, in Sister Cities International, an
organization committed to establishing and maintaining mutually
beneficial relationships among sister cities throughout the
world.
